Clinic donates portable defibrillators to area golf courses
The Charitable Contributions Committee of the Hutch Clinic gave one
FirstSave Defibrillator to Prairie Dunes and one to Carey Park. The golf courses are
training their staffs to operate the defibrillator, which is intended to be used by people
with little or no medical training. The units could be used to help save lives in
case of a cardiac arrest on the course. The unit could be used before
ambulance personnel arrive on the scene. "Sometimes three or four minutes can
be very critical to brain function and heart function," Lomasney said.
