There has been a renaissance in Nuclear Medicine! It is
fueled by new radiopharmaceuticals, new imaging technology, and the recognition of the
value of Nuclear Medicine in cost-effective patient care. To meet these needs, the
Hutchinson Clinic has purchased a Picker AXIS, a variable angle, dual detector gamma
camera system. The AXIS has the versatility to perform all types of Nuclear Medicine
procedures from the whole body, planar and SPECT imaging to Positron Emission Tomography
(PET). This equipment will allow us to utilize new techniques for tumor localization
and staging in Oncology. We will also see great benefits in Cardiology, Neurology
and general Nuclear Medicine procedures.
