History

The idea of building a clinic for a group of doctors in downtown Hutchinson was a novel idea in 1959. There were only a handful of facilities like it in Kansas. Hutchinson Clinic was founded in 1959 by five physicians, with the addition of two more in 1960. In 1961, these seven physicians and 25 employees occupied the first Clinic facility located at 12th and Main.

The Clinic moved in 1978 to its current location at 2101 North Waldron. A new addition was built which opened in September of 1995. In the summer of 1999, the Clinic opened a campus building housing general surgery, allergy and neurology services.

Offering comprehensive services in a wide range of medical specialties, construction began again to add another 54,000 square feet, which was completed in December of 2000. A 14,000 square foot Ambulatory Surgery Center opened in April 2002. In March 2006, a 38,000 square foot medical facility opened, which houses our physical therapy and medical fitness center, along with orthopaedics, sports medicine, spine surgery, physiatry, dermatology, gastroenterology and urology. The Dialysis Center of Hutchinson opened in August of 2007.  On May 2, 2011 the former Medical Center became the 1100 North Main Building of the Hutchinson Clinic.

In May 2013, the Hutchinson Clinic Walk-In Care facility was opened in South Hutchinson.  Walk-In Care is a convenient, affordable, and prompt option for a no-appointment necessary clinic.  In February 2014, the Hutchinson Clinic added a Walk-In Care clinic to the 1100 North Main Building and re-branded our 2101 North Waldron Same Day Care location to a Walk-In Care clinic. In April 2016, the Hutchinson Clinic moved the McPherson Specialty Care Clinic to a new location on Main Street in McPherson, adding Family Practice and Walk-In Care to the expanded Specialty Care offices.  Also in late 2016, the Hutchinson Clinic added Family Practice and Walk-In Care on Main Street in Cheney.  The Hutchinson Clinic now has 5 Walk-In Care locations to give patients better access to the care they need, when they need it.

The Hutchinson Clinic has continued to improve access for patients with outreach clinics in Cheney, Ellinwood, Ellsworth, Great Bend, Hoisington, Larned, Lyons, McPherson, Newton, and Pratt. The Clinic has also created a telemedicine program that allows patients in the farthest reaches of our 10,000 square mile geographic outreach area to gain easier access to quality medical care.
