Hutchinson Clinic Welcomes Dr. James Houghton, MD to Internal Medicine Team
Hutchinson Clinic is pleased to welcome Dr. James Houghton, MD, to its Internal Medicine Department. Dr. Houghton began seeing patients on October 20, 2025, bringing comprehensive adult primary care and a strong commitment to patient relationships to the Hutchinson community.
A native of McPherson, Kansas, Dr. Houghton has deep roots in Central Kansas. He earned his undergraduate degree in medical biochemistry and biology from Kansas State University, graduating cum laude, before completing his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he received extensive training in adult primary and complex medical care.
Dr. Houghton is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and provides a wide range of services, including preventive exams, chronic disease management, and office-based procedures. His clinical approach emphasizes building long-term relationships and empowering patients to take an active role in their health.
After spending 12 years away, Dr. Houghton is excited to return home and serve the community that helped shape him. He is passionate about partnering with patients to manage complex conditions while supporting overall wellness. Outside the clinic, he enjoys staying active, spending time with his family, and cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats.
