Hutchinson Clinic Welcomes Dr. John Thurman, Jr., D.O. to Family Medicine Team
Hutchinson Clinic is proud to welcome Dr. John Thurman, Jr., D.O., to its Family Medicine team. Dr. Thurman began seeing patients on September 15, bringing a strong background in comprehensive, patient-centered primary care to the Hutchinson community.
Dr. Thurman earned his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point before completing his medical education at A.T. Still University–Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri. He completed his family medicine residency at Loyola MacNeal Family Medicine Residency in Berwyn, Illinois. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.
A highly respected physician, Dr. Thurman was named 2023 Iowa Family Physician of the Year, recognizing his dedication to both his patients and the profession. He also serves on the A.T. Still University Board of Trustees and is an active member of the Kirksville Osteopathic Alumni Association and the Army Football Club.
Dr. Thurman provides a full spectrum of care for patients of all ages, including preventive care and wellness exams, management of chronic conditions, acute illness and injury care, pediatric and adolescent medicine, routine checkups and immunizations, sports physicals, and osteopathic manipulative treatment.
“My mission has always been to care for my patients as if they were my own family,” said Dr. Thurman. “This personalized level of care will continue now that I have joined the Hutchinson Clinic. I am excited to bring my personal and professional experiences to my wife’s hometown, and I am humbled to join an organization that has served this community for decades with excellence.”
